Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about bespoke carpentry in Berkshire — costs, timescales, materials, and how to work with us.

What areas of Berkshire do you serve?

We regularly work in Ascot, Bracknell, Windsor, Sunningdale, Virginia Water, Camberley, Gerrards Cross, and Stoke Poges, and across the wider Berkshire area. If you are unsure whether we cover your postcode, give us a call or drop us a message — coverage is rarely a problem.

How do I get a quote for carpentry work?

The easiest way is to fill in our free-quote form with a brief description of your project. We will follow up within one working day and, if things look promising, arrange a free measuring visit at a time that suits you. There is no obligation and no hard sell.

How much does a fitted wardrobe cost in Berkshire?

A single fitted wardrobe in painted MDF typically starts from around £1,500–£2,500 depending on size and configuration. Larger walk-in wardrobes or solid timber finishes will cost more. We provide a fully itemised written quote after your measuring visit so you know exactly what you are paying for.

How much does a media wall cost?

A bespoke media wall with integrated shelving, cable management, and a fireplace aperture typically ranges from £2,000 to £6,000 depending on size, materials, and complexity. We will give you a fixed price in writing before any work begins.

How long does a fitted wardrobe installation take?

A single fitted wardrobe in one bedroom generally takes one to two days on site. Walk-in wardrobes or projects spanning multiple rooms will take longer, and we will give you a clear timeline in your written quote.

How long does a media wall installation take?

Most media wall installations take two to three days from start to finish, including any plastering around the fireplace aperture. We will confirm the exact timeline in your quote.

Do you handle the design as well as the build?

Yes. We work with you from the initial idea through to the finished piece — discussing materials, finishes, configurations, and budget before we produce a quote. You do not need a finished design or technical drawings; we will guide you through the options.

Can you match existing woodwork and finishes?

In most cases, yes. For painted finishes we can match any colour — just provide the paint code or a sample. For stained or oiled timber, bring a photograph or a small sample and we will advise on the closest match available.

Do you supply materials, or do I source them?

We supply all materials as part of the quote. This means we are responsible for quality and there are no surprises on-site. If you have purchased specific hardware or fittings you would like us to use, we are happy to incorporate them.

Do you cover Ascot and Bracknell specifically?

Yes — Ascot and Bracknell are our two primary areas. We have completed dozens of projects throughout both towns and the surrounding villages, and we are always happy to discuss projects anywhere in Berkshire.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry full public liability insurance. Details are available on request before any work begins.

Do I need to move furniture before you start?

We ask that the work area is cleared of loose items before we arrive. For large furniture such as beds or sofas, please let us know and we will advise whether we can work around them or whether they need to be moved.

What is the difference between first fix and second fix carpentry?

First fix refers to structural timber work carried out before plastering — floor joists, stud walls, roof timbers, and door frames. Second fix is all the finishing carpentry fitted after plastering — door linings, skirting boards, architraves, internal doors, and staircases. We cover both stages.

Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

Yes. We stand behind the quality of our work. If anything is not right after installation, contact us and we will return to address it promptly. Full terms are available on request.

How do I send you photos of my space?

You can email photos directly to info@berkshirebespokecarpentry.co.uk — just mention your name and project in the subject line. Photos help us understand the space and give you a more accurate initial estimate before the measuring visit.
