Carpentry for When Something Has Gone Wrong
Most carpentry is planned months in advance. This part of our work is not. A window swells shut after rain, a sealed unit mists over, or a door frame splits after a forced entry — and someone needs a carpenter who can assess it properly and act.
We cover five areas under this heading: window repairs, emergency boarding, burglary damage repairs, home security upgrades, and insurance reinstatement estimates. Our normal hours are mon–fri: 8am–5:30pm and sat: 9am–1:30pm. Outside those hours, the 24-hour emergency line is there to take your call and arrange boarding or a first assessment across Berkshire, Surrey and South Buckinghamshire.
We are a sole trader, not a limited company, and we are not VAT-registered. Ordinary quotations for repair work are free. The only exception is a formal written estimate prepared specifically for an insurance claim, which is a separate paid service described on its own page.

Window Repairs
Timber frame repairs, misted sealed units, draughty casements, and sticking handles or hinges. We repair and re-glaze existing frames rather than replace the whole window, bringing in a specialist glazing partner where a sealed unit needs swapping out.
Emergency Boarding
A broken window or forced door left open overnight is a bigger problem than the original damage. We secure the opening and make the property weathertight on the day where we can, then return to carry out the proper repair.
Burglary Damage Repairs
After a forced entry, the lock is rarely what fails first — it is the timber around the keep that splits. We restore the frame properly and discreetly, to a standard you would not know had been touched.
Home Security Upgrades
Keeps, multipoint locking mechanisms, door frame reinforcement and window locks, fitted to a timber frame substantial enough to hold them. Some insurers specify particular standards; we can advise on what applies to your policy before work starts.
Insurance & Reinstatement Estimates
A written, itemised estimate for a claim, prepared to the level of detail an adjuster expects, with measurements and photographs. This is a paid, formal service, separate from our ordinary free quotations for general repair work.
Internal Doors
Where a door or its lining has split beyond repair, we supply and fit a replacement to match the rest of the house, including the frame, architrave, and ironmongery, so the repair blends in rather than stands out.
