Our Approach

Fitted Wardrobes Built Around Your Space

Looking for a bespoke fitted wardrobe in Ascot, Bracknell or anywhere across Berkshire? We design and build fitted wardrobes to fit your exact room — floor to ceiling, wall to wall, built around sloped ceilings, alcoves, and awkward dimensions.

A fitted wardrobe built properly does something a freestanding piece of furniture never can — it uses every millimetre of the room. Floor to ceiling. Wall to wall. Built around the chimney breast, the sloped ceiling, the alcove that no standard wardrobe ever quite fits. The result looks as though it was always there, because it was built for that specific room and no other.

Off-the-shelf wardrobes are designed for a theoretical average room. Berkshire homes — Victorian terraces in Windsor, Edwardian semis in Wokingham, large detached houses in Ascot and Sunningdale, newer builds in Bracknell — are rarely average. Walls are not always straight. Floors are not always level. Ceiling heights change. Period properties have chimney breasts that eat into bedroom corners. New builds have en-suite doorways that restrict where furniture can go. Bespoke means the wardrobe is drawn around what is actually there, not around what the catalogue assumes.

We have installed fitted wardrobes across Berkshire for years. The brief is almost always the same: make the most of the space, make it look right, and make it last. We design every wardrobe interior as carefully as the exterior — because a beautifully faced wardrobe with a chaotic internal layout is not a solved problem.

What We Build

Types of Fitted Wardrobe We Install

Alcove Wardrobes

The most common brief in period properties. We fill the recesses either side of a chimney breast floor-to-ceiling — often with open shelving above and hanging space and drawers below. Matching both alcoves to the same height and profile, even when the room is not perfectly symmetrical, is where the craftsmanship shows.

Full-Wall Sliding Door Wardrobes

Where a room has a full wall available, sliding door wardrobes make the maximum use of the space without requiring clear floor area in front for doors to swing. We frame and build the carcass, then fit quality sliding door gear that runs smoothly for years. Internal layout is designed around your specific storage needs.

Hinged Door Wardrobes

Traditional hinged doors suit period rooms and designs that need to integrate with existing joinery. We use quality concealed hinges with soft-close action as standard. Shaker, raised-and-fielded panel, flat, and glazed door options are all available — matched to the room's character.

Walk-In Wardrobes and Dressing Rooms

Where room size allows, a walk-in dressing room replaces a conventional wardrobe entirely. We design the full internal layout — hanging sections at different heights, open shelving for folded items, island drawer units, shoe storage, and integrated LED lighting. The brief is the same as a well-designed kitchen: a place for everything, in the right order.

Corner and Angled Room Wardrobes

Rooms with non-standard corners, sloped attic ceilings, or recesses at odd angles are where standard furniture gives up. We measure precisely and build frame and doors that follow the actual geometry of the room — so there are no gaps, no visual compromises, and no wasted space behind a unit that almost fits.

Wardrobes with TV Recess

A fitted wardrobe with a central TV recess built into the run is one of the most requested designs in master bedrooms. It removes the need for a separate TV unit, hides all cables within the structure, and creates a clean, unified bedroom wall. We size the recess to your screen and route cables before fitting.

Materials

What We Build From — and Why It Matters

The three materials we use most are painted MDF, solid timber, and veneered board. Each has a different place depending on the design, the budget, and the room.

Painted MDF is the most versatile and most popular choice. It takes paint exceptionally well, gives a smooth, clean finish in any colour, and is dimensionally stable — meaning it does not move significantly with seasonal humidity changes. For painted wardrobes, it is usually the best option on all three counts: appearance, durability, and cost. We use moisture-resistant MDF in rooms where humidity may be a factor.

Solid timber — usually oak or pine — is the right choice when the grain and natural character of the wood are part of the design. A solid oak wardrobe in a period bedroom, finished with a hand-applied oil or wax, has a warmth and solidity that painted MDF cannot replicate. It costs more and takes longer to build, but in the right room it is the correct material.

Veneered board offers the appearance of timber with greater dimensional stability and lower weight. Useful where a specific veneer — walnut, ash, oak — is required but solid timber would add unnecessary weight or cost. We advise honestly on which is appropriate for your project.

Hardware matters as much as the main material. We use Blum drawer and hinge mechanisms as standard — smooth, reliable, and backed by a long manufacturer guarantee. Handles, knobs, and hinges are chosen alongside the design, not as an afterthought.

How It Works

From First Call to Finished Wardrobe

01

Free Measuring Visit

We visit your property, measure the room precisely, discuss your storage needs and design preferences, and look at any complications — sloped ceilings, chimney breasts, awkward corners — that need to be designed around.

02

Written Quote

Within two working days, you receive a detailed written fixed-price quote. It itemises materials, labour, and any painting. No hidden extras. No vague estimates. You can proceed, ask questions, or walk away — there is no pressure.

03

Scheduling and Materials

Once you approve the quote, we confirm a start date and order materials. Lead time is typically four to six weeks depending on the schedule. We confirm the date in writing so you can plan around it.

04

Build and Installation

We build and fit on site. Most single wardrobes are installed in one to two days. The room is left clean and ready to use at the end of each day. We work around your household schedule wherever possible.

05

Sign-Off and Aftercare

Before we leave, we walk through the finished wardrobe with you. Any snags are dealt with before we go. If anything needs attention after we have left, we come back. That is the guarantee.

Pricing

What Does a Fitted Wardrobe Cost?

Most fitted wardrobe companies do not publish prices. We do, because we think hiding costs wastes everyone's time. These are genuine ranges based on our recent work across Berkshire — not ballpark figures designed to get you on the phone.

Wardrobe TypeTypical Range (all-in)
Single alcove wardrobe, painted MDF£1,800 – £2,800
Full-wall hinged wardrobe (3–4 doors)£2,500 – £4,500
Full-wall sliding door wardrobe£3,000 – £5,500
Wardrobe with central TV recess£3,200 – £5,000
Walk-in wardrobe / dressing room£6,000 – £14,000+
Solid oak or timber finish (add approx.)£600 – £2,000+

The main cost drivers are room size, number of doors, internal configuration complexity, material choice, and whether painting is included. A straight alcove wardrobe with two hinged doors and simple shelving costs significantly less than a full-wall run with six sliding doors, pull-out drawers, and LED lighting. The free measuring visit removes the guesswork — after it, you get a fixed price for exactly what you want.

Common Questions

Fitted Wardrobes — Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a fitted wardrobe cost in Berkshire?

A single alcove fitted wardrobe in painted MDF typically costs £1,800–£2,800 all-in, including design, materials, fitting, and painting. A full-wall sliding door wardrobe runs £3,000–£5,500 depending on size and internal configuration. Walk-in wardrobes and dressing rooms start from around £6,000 and can reach £14,000 or more for large rooms with full interior fit-out. We provide an itemised written quote after the free measuring visit — no vague estimates.

How long does a fitted wardrobe take to install?

A single fitted wardrobe in one bedroom typically takes one to two days on site. A walk-in wardrobe or a multi-room project will take longer — usually three to five days. We give you a clear timeline in your written quote so you can plan around it.

Can you fit wardrobes in rooms with sloped ceilings or awkward shapes?

Yes — awkward rooms are what bespoke joinery is made for. We design around sloped ceilings, chimney breasts, low beams, and non-standard dimensions. The wardrobe is built to the actual room, not adapted from a standard size.

Can you match existing joinery or paint colours?

Yes. For painted wardrobes, we match any colour — just supply the paint code. For timber finishes, we advise on the closest match at the measuring visit. We can also replicate existing door styles and moulding profiles.

Do you design the internal layout as well as the exterior?

Yes. The interior is just as important as the exterior. We discuss your storage needs in detail — what you are hanging, folding, and shelving — and configure the interior accordingly. Hanging rails, shelves, pull-out drawers, shoe racks, and internal lighting can all be incorporated.

Do you do sliding door fitted wardrobes?

Yes. We design and build both sliding and hinged door wardrobes. Sliding doors suit narrower rooms where a hinged door would take too much floor space to open. We discuss which suits your room at the measuring visit.

Is the painting included?

Yes. For painted MDF wardrobes, we prime, undercoat, and apply two coats of your chosen colour — all included in the quote. We use trade-quality paint applied properly, not as an afterthought.

Do you offer a guarantee?

Yes. All structural joinery is guaranteed for twelve months against defects in workmanship. If anything is not right after installation, we come back and fix it — no argument, no charge.
